**Petland's Puppy Mill Scam Exposed**

Petland, a pet store chain, claims their puppies come from high-quality breeders who don't keep dogs in small cages and are inspected by multiple agencies. However, an undercover investigation by our team reveals this to be a lie. We sent a hidden camera into two Petland stores in Wichita, Kansas, in July and the results expose the "Petland scam" and the puppy mill cruelty these stores support.

Petland's Puppy Mill Scam Exposed

In Petland Wichita West, a salesperson assured our investigator that breeders supplying puppies are not puppy mills and are inspected by the store owner, USDA, Kansas state, and often the American Kennel Club. However, paperwork caught on camera shows the puppy was not from a recognized AKC breed, a USDA-licensed breeder, or a Kansas-inspected breeder. The breeder was listed as an Ohio "hobby" breeder, a designation often used for unlicensed and uninspected suppliers.

At the other Petland Wichita store, a salesperson claimed puppies come from USDA-certified breeders or professional hobby breeders, adding that the store owner personally inspects breeders' properties. However, the salesperson previously mentioned picking up puppies in Missouri at a broker-like location, with no clear evidence of on-site visits to all breeders.

Our investigation has repeatedly shown Petland stores purchasing puppies from large-scale puppy mills where dozens of breeding dogs are kept in cramped cages. One of the Wichita Petland stores obtained puppies from Beauchamp's Puppy World, a Missouri facility repeatedly cited for poor conditions and ailing dogs.

We are now running TV and social media ads in Wichita to expose the truth and urge residents to support a humane pet store ordinance that would end the sale of puppies in pet stores. Petland's deception must end, and the puppy mill cruelty they support must stop.
