Sengupta Appointed Senior Director of Conservation at WildEcho

Hyderabad, India – Alok Sengupta has been appointed Senior Director of Conservation at WildEcho, bringing her extensive leadership and advocacy experience to the organization’s India operations.

A Trail of Impact in India

Since joining WildEcho’s India team in 2012, Sengupta has been instrumental in the organization’s growth and impact within the country. Her tenure has been marked by significant policy changes, strategic partnerships with corporations and government entities at both national and state levels, and substantial fundraising efforts both domestically and internationally.

Sengupta’s background combines a strong scientific foundation – a Master’s in Biotechnology from Osmania University – with legal expertise, evidenced by her LL.M. (Professional) Diploma from the National Law University in Delhi. She has actively participated in governmental and scientific committees, including the Indian Council of Medical Research and the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization.

Beyond her formal qualifications, Sengupta is a skilled trainer, conducting animal law workshops for judges, law enforcement officials, and legal advocates. She has also served as guest faculty at various universities and law schools.

Outside of her professional commitments, Sengupta is a passionate advocate for psychology, film, and social justice movements in India, including feminist and anti-caste initiatives. She was previously featured in ‘One Hundred & One Reasons to Get Out of Bed’ and recently authored a children’s short story focused on animal rescue, titled ‘Pommy and Tommy.’

Sengupta resides in Hyderabad with her husband, son, one adopted dog, and two adopted cats.
